JLT Public Sector has developed a vulnerability profile methodology and program for application council-by-council around the nation profiling local government’s capacity and capability to build resilience.

The program creates harmonised data and information, supporting the objectives of the National Disaster Resilience Strategy.

Designed to be multi-faceted, the program will:

  • Deliver specific vulnerability profile results to every council
  • Build a platform of nationally consistent, new and harmonised data
  • Provide information enabling governments to benchmark and monitor the build of resilience
  • Provide information and data that enables partnering with insurers, all governments and stakeholders
  • Measure and monitor investment in disaster risk mitigation.

This national program is built on:

  • National Disaster Resilience Strategy
  • National Disaster Risk Reduction Framework
  • Royal Commission into National Disaster Funding Arrangements
  • Objectives of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)
  • (State) Government Strategy for Disaster Resilience
  • Guiding principles as set out in each state/territory Local Government Act
  • Local government’s established maturing risk-reduction framework.
